Summary

Never trust an assassin。

Celaena's story continues in this second book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J。 Maas。

Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become the King's Champion。 But she is far from loyal to the crown。 Though she goes to great lengths to hide her secret, her deadly charade becomes more difficult when she realises she is not the only one seeking justice。 Her search for answers ensnares those closest to her, and no one is safe from suspicion - not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a princess with a rebel heart。

Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy。 As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie 。。。 and what she is willing to fight for。

The second book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series returns readers to a land destroyed by liars, where one woman's truth is the only thing that can save them all。

4。4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ • audiobook • not quite as good as the first book, but it had a lot of setting up to do and I’m so excited for the next one!

i am STUNNEDDDDD at the ending……。 once again solid writing, really digging the worldbuilding and characterization that unfolded here as the series goes on, definitely enjoyed this one more than throne of glass。 i am also such a slut for epic plot twists and extremely powerful characters 😍😍❤️ excited to continue with this series and very happy there’s a lot of books left

oooOo this one was good。 the plot was much faster than the first book and i loved that i was able to get to okie each of the characters more。 with that being said though i am not a huge fan of the story telling perspective。 i felt it was jumpy with the bouncing between characters and found it frustrating that i always knew what the other characters were thinking。 with that said i am very excited for what’s to come

Oh。 My。 God。 It’s 1am and I just finished reading, because I just couldn’t stop。 So much happening on the last 100 pages。 In the end I couldn’t keep my mouth shot。 Amazing。 I love this story and I canNOT wait to read the rest of the series。 Well deserved 5/5 stars。

Honestly feel like this storyline is progressing in a way more appealing way than ACOTR。 I know it’s less smutty (at least this far) but the character development is phenomenal。

Crown of Midnight is a young adult fantasy book and the second book in the Throne of Glass series。 Celaena Sardothien has won the contest to become the King's Champion。 This doesn't mean she supports the monarchy。 In fact, she still hates the King。 Celaena is finding her own way to rebel, but pressure from others to do more is getting more intense。 Not only this, but Celaena has many secrets that she finds ever more difficult to keep hidden。Okay, so I didn't really enjoy the previous book, but I Crown of Midnight is a young adult fantasy book and the second book in the Throne of Glass series。 Celaena Sardothien has won the contest to become the King's Champion。 This doesn't mean she supports the monarchy。 In fact, she still hates the King。 Celaena is finding her own way to rebel, but pressure from others to do more is getting more intense。 Not only this, but Celaena has many secrets that she finds ever more difficult to keep hidden。Okay, so I didn't really enjoy the previous book, but I thought I would continue with this one in hopes it would get better。 It hasn't。 I don't know exactly what it is, whether it's the main character or what, but I am just not as engrossed in the story as much as I would like。 I am just not feeling it。 The plot sounds amazing, but I just can't get into the book。 In the previous book, I found Celaena quite annoying and frankly just a selfish brat。 Thankfully, in this book, she has improved so much。 One thing that bothers me is the love triangle。 I am not a fan of it。 I don't have anything against them; it's just that some books don't need them, and I personally don't think this one does。I still love the fantasy side of the book。 I probably will read the next book because I still have a bit of hope。 The ending was good, and there were a couple of plot twists。 I am not saying that the book is terrible, because it isn't; it's just that I am not feeling it。 Good luck to the other people reading this series。 。。。more

“But death was her curse and her gift, and death had been her good friend these long, long years。”anticipated rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️actual rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️Ok so here’s the deal— the first 90% of the book was 2。5 stars, maybe less。 I really wanted to DNF it but I had a friend tell me to just push through until the end and then if I decided to give up the series, that would be acceptable。 So, I stuck with it。 It took me SO SO SO long to get through but it was worth it (maybe?) because that ENDING?? It was “But death was her curse and her gift, and death had been her good friend these long, long years。”anticipated rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️actual rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️Ok so here’s the deal— the first 90% of the book was 2。5 stars, maybe less。 I really wanted to DNF it but I had a friend tell me to just push through until the end and then if I decided to give up the series, that would be acceptable。 So, I stuck with it。 It took me SO SO SO long to get through but it was worth it (maybe?) because that ENDING?? It was just… 🤯 No words。The last five chapters had be on the edge of my seat and I almost want to rate them 4。5 stars。 But UGH, does this mean I have to keep going with the series (please tell me if it’s worth it)?? I’m still deciding…I thought “Crown of Midnight” was more focussed on the plot with the magic and the portals and the wyrdmarks and less about the characters (Calaena, Dorian, and Chaol)。 I am not really a fantasy girly so when the pages are filled with fantasy-heavy descriptions and actions, I tend loose interest… and that’s exactly what my problem was while reading。Despite my struggle to finish “Crown of Midnight”, I found several redeeming moments/quotes that I’ve listed on the below:“She had a flicker of memory from a time when, just for a moment, she'd been free; when the world had been wide open and she'd been about to enter it with Sam at her side。 It was a freedom that she was still working for, because even though she'd tasted it only for a heartbeat, it had been the most exquisite heartbeat she'd ever experienced。”“In that moment, after ten long years, Celaena looked at Chaol and realized she was home。”“To escape death, she'd become death… And that made Celaena more than just his enemy。 It made her the greatest threat he'd ever encountered。”“She hadn't realized how much she missed that sound。 Not just his laugh, but her own, too; any laugh, really。 Even if it felt wrong to laugh these days, she missed it。”“‘I want you to know that in the darkness of the past ten years, you were one of the bright lights for me。 Do not let that light go out。’” 。。。more

3。5⭐️ I'm glad I stuck with this series, this 2nd book was ways better than the 1st and hopefully I will say the same about the rest of the series。 Seriously, the story picks up a lot more in this one, a lot more actions and suspense, new questions arising and a whole plot that keeps on thickening。 It's a great fantasy series for now。 3。5⭐️ I'm glad I stuck with this series, this 2nd book was ways better than the 1st and hopefully I will say the same about the rest of the series。 Seriously, the story picks up a lot more in this one, a lot more actions and suspense, new questions arising and a whole plot that keeps on thickening。 It's a great fantasy series for now。 。。。more
